    Free Printable Invasion

I'm serious when I say that I think one of the best things about blogging and the internet is free printables! They add so much character to your home without having to spend lots of money. Thank you to all you who provide little ol' me with free stuff for my home! I've talked about a few different places you can find free printables here, but I decided that for my open shelves in the kitchen I wanted something specific and custom-matched to my color scheme. What's a DIYer to do? Why, make one herself!

I wanted to create something that was meaningful to me, but that also had some connection to eating and the kitchen. While searching around, I came across 1 Corinthians 10:31 and knew that it was perfect for this!

I found a pattern that I loved by Moo & Puppy (it's the morrocan trellis pattern that comes in a bajillion colors), uploaded it to Picnik and went to town. Why doesn't everyone buy digital paper? Seriously, there are SO many uses for it and it's so darn cheap! Plus, you can get 15% off if you use the code RHBC15. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Anyway, back to the printables. I have three identical frames in the kitchen that I spray-painted turquoise, and needed to fill them with something. I made this one using a great Julia Child saying…

…and printed this beautiful peacock from The Graphics Fairy!

Three cheap thrift store frames + free printables = one happy girl! And since I'm so happy, I decided to share the love. Free Eat, Drink, Glory of God Printable

It's a 5 x 7 print and you can choose from three different colors: mustard yellow, turquoise and lime green.

Click here to Download Printables I'm excited to finish accessorizing my open shelves, but you got a little glimpse today of how they're shaping up. What do you think?
Have you ever made your own printable? Do share!

  • Free Printable Art Round-Up

    Free Printable Art Round-Up

While looking for fun, free art for my new gallery wall, I discovered a few great places to print beautiful art, typography and even maps! And I just couldn't keep all the goods from you, so get your pen and paper ready (oh, wait, does anybody do that anymore? Get your Pinterest pinner ready, then!), for some awesome, free stuff!
    1. Sprik Space

I mentioned that I printed off these two adorable prints from Sprik Space for my gallery wall, but these aren't the only ones Aimee has! Be sure to go on over and take a look at her super cute printables- and tell her we sent you.
    2. The Graphics Fairy

Ok, admittedly, you have to do some digging on this site to find the hidden gems like this vintage french label, or this gorgeous peacock print. But luckily, all the printables are categorized, so if you know what you're looking for, you're in luck!
    3. Feed Your Soul: The Free Art Project

I think this site is my favorite yet for free printable art. Don't ask me why I put it third on my list- it's late and I'm tired, so leave me alone.; ) The art is quirky and clever and definitely a touch modern. They have a few prints that would be perfect for a nursery or children's room, but I would put a whole bunch of them up in my house. Listen to what Jane says her reason for starting this site is: "I love art and I know you do too. I also know that when people start to tighten up the purse strings they tend not spend money on things that aren’t necessary for survival, things like books, magazines and art. But, art is important for your soul. It helps rejuvenate, it’s thought-provoking, offers inspiration and can generally brighten an otherwise dreary day among other things." Well said, Jane, and we thank you from the bottom of our art-loving hearts.
    4. New York City Public Library

    ar

Did you know that the New York Public Library has a digital gallery of over 700,000 images taken from their vast collections? I found this old print of Pennsylvania from 1830 with just a simple search.Browse to your heart's content and I'm sure you'll find a inspiration for art.
    5. Leanne's Printable Quotes

This is not a site that regularly features free printables (at least not to my knowledge), but in this post there are several simple designs that would make great cards (for Valentine's Day, maybe?), art prints, or anything else you can think of.
Where's your favorite place to get free printables? I shared mine with you- now it's your turn!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I can't stop looking at the Hymn & Folk Song collection by Red Letter Words! Today I'm smitten with this:

I sing this regularly to my kids and so it these prints make me happy. I love the set of three prints- something a bit different than the norm!

  • 10 Free Fonts for Fall

    10 Free Fonts for Fall

There's no sense denying it, I'm a font snob. I spend far more time choosing a font for a presentation than I actually do coming up with content! My husband completely doesn't get it… I've even showed him things in Comic Sans and then a fabulous font like Basic Title and he just can't even tell the difference. So, instead of wasting my time on him, I thought I'd gather up 10 free fonts that I'll be using this fall and share them with you!!

    Cafe & Brewery///Honey Badger///Chemistry///Aaargh///DK Sleepy Time/// nixie one///Neo Retro Draw///Veron///Kiwi School Handwriting///Harting///
Here's my take on a few of them… There's something I'm loving about Honey Badger- can't put my finger on it, but I'm drawn to it!
Chemistry is all Breaking Bad and awesome, but not illegal- don't worry!
Neo Retro Draw has recently made it's way to our sidebar pics- I love the simple hand drawn look!
Vernon, oh wait… it's VERON… Apparently I loved the N so much I added an extra! oops! I love simple, clean fonts with stretched letters. So modern and fabulous!!
And just for good measure… the"hello" is Learning Curve (a teacher go-to I might add) and our EC2 watermark is Hype.
So… go download your favs, but first tell me… Which is your favorite?

    The END is Near…

Before you read this post, click PLAY on the music below to set the mood…

We can't even believe that the end of summer is approaching. We're basically in denial. Since we're going to cram as much awesomeness into these last few weeks as we can, we thought we'd better organize our plan of attack. Thanks to Emily at Jones Design Company we had a fabulous free printable to use. So yes, two dorky bloggers just sat together and wrote these out, but now we're going to share them with you…

    Jess' Must-do-ASAP List

    Monica's Must-do-ASAP List

Excuse our chicken scratch handwriting… Do you remember back in high school when having cool handwriting was a big deal? Yeah, I (Monica) never had cute girl handwriting- Jess did!

So now we want to know what you have planned for the last days of summer? Thanks to Jones Design Company, you can click HERE to download the printable. Fill it out and then post it to the Real Housewives of BC Facebook page HERE. It'll be super fun to see what you're all up to in the next few weeks!
(Oh, and we'll look sorta dumb if no one posts it to Facebook, so be a blog pal and just think… you get to show off your cool handwriting!)

  • Kids Printable Olympic Medal Tracker

    Kids Printable Olympic Medal Tracker

Today's the day! The 2012 Summer Olympics are here. The other day I told you about how I've been getting my kids all geared up for the games. The thing they're most excited about is tracking medals! I made a printable for them and won some major Mom-Points!

You can download the FREE printable HERE!
Here's ours all set and ready to go! What we did was let each kiddo choose a country that was theirs to track. We put the printable into a frame and then we can use a dry erase marker to update the count each day. Fingers crossed that they don't get all cranky and start fighting over whose country has the most medals!

The older two kids drew the flags for the younger ones and I have to say I was impressed!

And just in case you're curious, Here are some 2008 stats… Rank Nation Gold Silver Bronze Total 1

    China (CHN) 51 21 28 100 2

    United States (USA) 36 38 36 110 3

    Russia (RUS) 23 21 29 73 4

    Great Britain (GBR) 19 13 15 47 5

    Germany (GER) 16 10 15 41 Source

I kind of encouraged the kids to pic countries that have historically done well (so they have lots to track). We didn't put the US on our chart because we're all cheering for USA, we didn't want 3 kiddos being anti-USA!
I hope your kids enjoy this printable as much as mine have! GO USA!

  • 5 FREE Home Decor Projects {Free Stylin' Beth)

5 FREE Home Decor Projects {Free Stylin' Beth)

We have another treat for you today! Meet Beth, from Free Stylin'. She is a girl after our own hearts, since she LOVES decorating with style on a budget, and is pretty darn good at it, too.: ) We had the priviledge of meeting her at Haven, and she is so sweet and bubbly! We're sure you'll love her-after reading her post today, and then head on over to her blog to check out the fun stuff she does in her neck of the woods!
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey East Coast Creative Fans!! My name is Beth, and I blog over at Free Stylin'. You can find all kinds of posts about"living a stylish life without the expensive pricetag!" I've been big fans of Jess and Monica's since seeing them on The Nate Berkus Show. Those girls have some talent! It was such a blessing to meet them in person last month at Haven. (And yes, they are as sweet and friendly and beautiful in person!!)

    Haven Conference

Me, Jess, Monica, and our cute friend Jamie

I was so excited when they asked me to visit with y'all about something I love to talk about…Decorating for FREE!! I am all about using what you've already got to make your space beautiful. I'm also way into projects that I can do right now. (I love instant gratification.) So today I want to show you…

5 FREE Home Decor Projects You Can Make TODAY!

Would you like a little more glamour in your bedroom? New sheet sets and pillow cases can get expensive, and if you try to save a little in price, it could cost you in comfort. BUT!! You CAN make pretty bedding pieces out of the"underutilized"; ) lingerie in the back of your closet. Choose the items that have the most material and add the satin fabric to a pillow case you already own. Or make a throw pillow using pillow fill you aren't currently using. Learn how to make your own HERE.

Trays are a decorating must-have, and they are as functional as they are decorative. A pretty tray can help complete a look, and you can make one for your home in about 15 minutes using an old cookie sheet and a piece of fabric. My tray, above, was made from a shirt I was about to give to the Goodwill. Instead I cut it up and glued it to the cookie sheet. Find out more about it HERE.

Sometimes you just need to see something in a new way. Take a piece of artwork for example. I could no longer even look at the Monet painting on our mantel. So, I sprayed the frame another color and painted my own abstract art instead. You can paint directly to the back of your artwork or buy a poster board for just pennies. See how HERE.

If you don't have paint, or can't because you rent, but you want a change today, try"wallpapering" a wall with maps or book pages or sheets of music. All you need is a stapler and some Mod Podge (or watered down glue) to seal the edges. The paper isn't permanent, but it makes a huge statement in your home. Check out how I papered my boys' bedroom HERE.

Decorating with plates is such a fun and interesting way to bring in color and shapes into a room. And don't feel like you have to limit the plates to just a dining room! Hanging plates on any wall in your house is quick and free…just raid your own kitchen cabinets! You can hang your plates with hot glue and paperclips, too. No fancy plate hangers needed. Go HERE to see how I used plates in my own living room.
I hope I've inspired you to try something new and FREE in your home today, using the items you've already got around you. It really does feel great to have a new look for nada lotta. Come stop by Free Stylin' for more tips and tricks like these.: ) Thanks SO much, Jess and Monica, for having me! Hope you're having a fun vacation!
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So much amazing inspiration in one place! I don't know about you, but I'm totally loving that abstract art she DIYed. Add that to my ever-growing list of projects! Thanks for being here, Beth!

  • A Day in the Life of a DIYer… {and Table Update}

    A Day in the Life of a DIYer… {and Table Update}

We do a lot of projects… perhaps more than my wonderful husband would like to do… Some times I feel like this is my life…

Ok, don't judge me here, but I'm going to show you what state my garage was in about a week ago…

Two small tables about to be made into one BIG table, a million dining room chairs, exercise equipment for bootcamp, a buffet that is being refinished, and oodles of kid junk… Please tell me your"work areas" look like this from time to time!!
If you remember, I posted about refinishing 14 chairs… well they seem to be EVERYWHERE! Perhaps they're multiplying??

Here's the progess… I picked a charcoal grey that I am thrilled with. Initially I was thinking black, but after painting one chair, I just wasn't feeling it. Picasso had a blue period, so I can have a grey period.

Also, my"Chemist by Day, and DIY Assistant by Night" husband is making a farmhouse dining room table. I mentioned our dining room troubles last month and he's now on the home stretch of the project. Here's a mini update… I want to save the big reveal until after it's all stained and amazing!

Seiously, who needs a pickup truck when you have a minivan??

So here's the deal… we came across two identical 5 foot tables and good old Grandpop Bunney (yes, that's really his name) reminded us that 5 + 5 = 10 So, we're using both of the tables, adding support boards, and then building the new tabletop right over it! Now for a little more math… 4 + 4 = 8 Yeah, the table will have 8 legs, but it isn't all that noticeable, and it's a little quirky… just like us!

When the table reveal is done we'll give a better step-by-step, but really it's just wooden support beams cut to size, and then loooong planks going on top. See how easy I make it sound, since I'm NOT the one doing the project. Hehe.

I'm really proud of the finished product (coming really soon!) and all of the hubs' hard work. He puts up with a lot of my crazy ideas and projects that turn into"our" projects, which sometimes turn into"his" projects.
So, this is my life as a DIYer and a wife…
I wonder if E knew what he was getting himself into…

  • Summer Bucket List- Free Printable!

    Summer Bucket List- Free Printable!

I know for many summer is well underway, but my kids just got out of school last week and I still have a week left. So, I might be a little behind the eight ball on this, but we finally sat down this weekend and created our summer bucket list. This year I wanted to do something fun and visible, so that it would be a daily reminder of all the fun things we have planned!

I decided to put together a pennant banner that I could print out quickly and easily. After designing the template, the whole thing took me about 10 minutes to put together! Score!
I used this template, which you can download for free HERE.

Then, in Picasa I added the words using this font (which you can get HERE)

To put the banner together, I just hot glued the pennants onto grosgrain ribbon and then added some buttons at the ends for a little added detail.

I just used regular computer paper, but I would recommend using a heavier card stock so that the light doesn't shine through. These pictures were nearly impossible to take with all the back light.

Here's what's on our Bucket List for Summer of 2012: Family Bike Trip Newport Beach with our Cousins Phillies Game Camping Outdoor Movie Night Sleepover with Friends Tubing Down the Delaware Dorney Park See Fireworks Bonfire Family Bike Trip

I'm pretty happy with our cute summer bucket list and I'm super excited for all the fun things we have planned!

What's on your family's summer bucket list?

  • {Blossoming Business} Guest Blogger

    {Blossoming Business} Guest Blogger

Today we're super excited to have Bethany from Blossom Bands guest blogging for us. We asked her to share her story of how she turned a hobby into an awesomely successful, work-from-home business. She's a super cool example of what moms can do! We know you'll love her story and her fabulous products as well (you just might win some)!!

    Hi! My name is

Bethany and I am the owner of Blossom Bands! What started off as a hobby has truly become a great adventure that has introduced me into a whole new world of homemade goodies!

It feels like yesterday that I found out I was having a girl, and that was the very beginning of my little girl accessory obsession! I remember the ultrasound tech said “It’s a girl” and do you know the first thing I said was, “Thank God I don’t have to worry about a circumcision!” Ha, who says that!? Well, I guess, I do! Then, the thought settled in, a girl, a beautiful, perfect girl! I nstantly, I was beyond excited to fill her closet and drawers with everything girlie I could get my hands on …and so it started! The first thing I ever made for Calia was a navy blue organza blossom for Thanksgiving. It matched her dress perfectly! I knew it was cute, I was excited to make her more, but when people started commenting on how great it was, the real excitement grew! Before I knew it I was researching ideas, self teaching myself how to make everything I make now! I started dying bands myself, cutting everything by hand, and suffering many needle pricks and glue gun burns! I’m proud that I do everything on my own, I’m proud that I taught myself, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come since November 2010!

In January my website-savvy husband launched http://www.blossombands.com/ and we worked on setting up our Facebook account right after that. I worked and worked on inventory, creating close to 200 products ready to sell! They’re all long gone now, and everything is made to order. I’ve tried to add new items since then, introducing tutu’s and new designs and styles regularly.

I don’t know when I really noticed how successful my little venture was becoming, it seemed to happen overnight! I have people contact me frequently to carry Blossom Bands on their websites or in their stores. I’m in awe of the amazing photographers I’ve been blessed to have photograph my work, like Heidi Hope Photography or Melissa DeCastro Photography who were the first I reached out to. The day I got an email from Piggy Toes Photography to swap a free photo session for Blossom Band props I really got excited! Blossom Bands has grown so fast so quickly, and Facebook has played a huge part in that! Networking, who knew!? I didn’t!

I did this for Calia, because I wanted to make her fun accessories. My children are my world, and have been since I had my son in February of ’07. The one thing I find myself struggling with is time! I am not a sit around and watch TV all day Mom! I’m an “everybody up, everybody get dressed, everybody in the car” kind of Mom. I go places with them; the beach, the zoo, the park, picnics, sandbox adventures, and playdates weekly. It’s hard finding a balance between a business that now demands a lot of time, and being a stay at home Mom. When do I work?!? Nap time & bed time! It works for now! And I know that there is a chance of a third baby in my future which might slow me down a bit, but my number one priority is my family…and then I think, can you imagine how amazing Blossom Bands will be when they’re all in school!? It’s going to be huge, and I hope you stick around to watch Blossom Bands blossom, Ha! So, thanks for letting me share a little bit of my story with you. And, as I finish writing this, I look up to see my son wearing half his clothes and fairy wings and my daughter stomping blueberries into my white rug, and still I know, it’s going to be a good day!
Because Bethany Rocks, she's giving away a Custom Blossom Band to one of our readers!! To enter to win,"Like" The Real Housewives of Bucks County and Blossom Bands on Facebook by clicking HERE and HERE. Then, leave a comment here on the blog letting us know you did!
The winner will be announced Friday morning, with our Fab Find! Good Luck!

  • Honey Dew… for you!

    Honey Dew… for you!

Jess and I have both been mentioning the long project lists we have for our hubbies. I will clarify that we're both super hands on and helpful with our DIY projects, but we're both blessed with husbands that are willing to help us carry out our crazy ideas and projects.
I found this cute FREE printable and thought I'd share it with you today.

Vale Designs I've already printed out a few this morning and can't wait to see Eric's super huge smile when he sees his Honey-Dew list looking all cute! Just for the record, it will be more of an eye-roll, but I will ignore it and pretend that he loved it!: )
You can click HERE for this fun, free download.
So, let me know if your hubs is super excited about the adorable Honey-Dew list you've got for him!: )

    Another Freebie! {Paper Coterie}

Since you all enjoyed the free canvases we shared last week, we thought we'd give you a little treat this week too! We love hooking you up with freebies!!

Have you heard of Paper Coterie? If you have, you're way ahead of us since we've been hiding under a rock and didn't know about their fabulousness. Basically, they sell super cool, trendy, fun ways to document and record all the important moments in our lives. Photo books, greeting cards, birth announcements, planners, journals. Awesome stuff, people. Check it out:

I Love Swatchbook (Great Father's Day gift! 30 pages, only $15!)

Memorykeeper (perfect for storing kid's artwork!)

Set of 12 Hello Cards (a personal favorite!)

Live the Life Planner (Calendar + Notebook + Personal Pics = Awesome) Here's what Monica picked with her $15:You might remember that I got an iPhone last month and I'm loving up Instagram (You can follow me at eastcoastcreative) well I saw this journal and knew it was for me.

I used four pictures that make me smile and voila. I plan to use it as kind of a prayer journal. Life can get a tad busy sometimes and often I don't take enough time to talk to The Big Guy. I find that writing helps. I loved that I could choose a fun font (I'm a font snob) and text, so I named it,"Hey God, It's Me Monica" (a little play off of Judy Bloom).

Here's what Jess picked with her $15: Ok, we're lame because we both picked journals, but I just started a new job (as a Trip Coordinator at the same continuing care facility I've been working at for the last two years) and I know there will be tons of details, little reminders, and future trip ideas I'm going to need to jot down on a regular basis, so this will be the perfect fit!

Simple, clean and of course, features my favorite picture of my kids ever.

Here's how you get your Free $15 at Paper Coterie! Click HERE and then use the code GIFTFAVES at Checkout!
So what will you get with your $15?? Let us know what you choose! Have a great weekend!
